289,400 tourist trips made in Huayuan County during Chinese New Year holiday

Huayuan County in Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture launched a series of cultural tourism activities during this year’s Spring Festival holiday to attract tourists.

According to the statistics of the local culture and tourism department of Huayuan County, from February 7 to 17, the county received 289,400 tourists and generated a tourism income of about 260 million yuan, an increase of 121.08% and 74.23% year on year respectively, achieving a good start in cultural tourism market in the Year of the Loong. The county launched rich folk activities based on its regional characteristics to create a festive and lively atmosphere of the Year of the Loong, which were well received by tourists.

Biancheng Chadong Scenic Area launched daily activities such as dragon and lion dances, as well as themed activities. The scenic area received 181,463 tourists, an increase of 33.42%, and achieved tourism revenue of 3.4228 million yuan. Shibadong Village was decorated with red lanterns and Chinese knots. During the Spring Festival, programs like welcoming drums and the Miao lion dance were performed, drawing many tourists.

While strolling through the scenic area, tourists could appreciate the beautiful natural scenery and experience the tremendous changes of Shibadong Village.

A Miao intangible cultural heritage exhibition was held in Gumiao River Baipu Grand Canyon Scenic Area to celebrate Chinese New Year, attracting many tourists to experience the unique Miao traditional folk customs here.
